WHO WE ARE
Spartans TT is a program that was founded by Mr. Garvin Warwick for the purpose of enhancing the athletic skills of young men and women who aspire to continue in sports on a collegiate and professional level in Trinidad and Tobago. We will provide opportunities, inspire excellence and prepare leaders in a championship culture. Our goal is to emphasize individual skill development as well as the necessary team concepts so that your child may excel in any program whether it is school, recreation, or competitive. We offer year around competitive training programs to kids between the ages of 5 to 20yrs years. It is our intention to continue mapping the process to a solid foundation for sport in Trinidad and Tobago.
In our first year we have been able to train over 100 kids from different demographics. These kids have all learned the basic fundamentals of basketball and more importantly they have been able to understand sharing with each other and the fair play concepts. We have expanded into four schools, Dunross Preparatory, St Monica’s Preparatory, Fatima College and the British Academy. Our current sponsors who have bought into our vision of developing sports in schools are, Republic Bank Ltd, Gatorade, Crystal Waters, Unit Trust Corporation, Bmobile, National Lotteries Control Board (NLCB) and Fu Family Films.
We have engaged top class, qualified coaches in all of our sporting disciplines, making it three sporting disciplines that we are offering training for kids between the ages of 5yrs to 20yrs. Republic Bank has partnered with us through our scholarship program to foster values in kids from underprivileged areas within Trinidad and Tobago. We want to use sport to teach values, a value is what is considered important in life; what makes life worth living. Learning takes place in the whole body, not just in the mind and with sport, physical literacy and learning through movement contributes to the development of both moral and intellectual learning. It is our goal to ensure that we provide mentorship programs for underprivileged kids between the ages of 5yrs and 14 years. This process would not take months but rather years to change the culture within communities
Our founder, Garvin Warwick, was elected to serve as the President of the National Basketball Federation, for his work invested in the sport of basketball and more so, his focus on youth development. Today he sits as the advisor to the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, Honorable Darryl Smith as at 2016, also because of his focus on youth development.
